Hello, friends.
I know it’s not Tuesday, and I know it’s been a while, and I am sorry!
But I’ve been busy — not just learning a glide kip on the P bars (please see above) — but also finishing a new feature. Reported with a grant from the Pulitzer Center, it’s about VotingWorks, a non-profit voting machine vendor that’s committed to transparency. Like, really committed. Like, they publish the source code for every one of their machines on GitHub.
Can this rag-tag start-up really compete with private equity-backed giants like Dominion and ES&S? Read the article to find out.
And with that story published, I’m bitter-sweetly announcing my departure from journalism. I’ve loved this work and wish that the industry offered enough support and stability to continue doing it, but after hearing that Sports Illustrated was publishing AI-generated stories under fake bylines, I see the writing on the wall.
But fear not! Though I could retire on the millions I earned as a freelance voting rights reporter, I have, instead, chosen to embark on a new career.
I’m now offering media training specifically geared toward election officials and civic organizations. Using my skills, of which I have many, I made this digital resume for your perusal. And if you’re looking for someone to write a cheeky newsletter with dank memes, boy do I have good news for you.
While we’re on the topic, I’m also *looking for opportunities* in the fitness space (did I mention the glide kip on the P bars?). That resume is here.
Thank you for reading and following along on this journey.
May you think of me every Super Tuesday.
Love,
s
Wishing you all the best.
Hi Spenser, I wish the best of luck in all your future endeavors, and I want to sincerely thank you for all the newsletters you’ve published until now. Please keep us posted on what you’re up to! By the way, I still have your stickers on my laptop 😉.
